In cooking, we mainly use two species. Black cardamom (Amomum subulatum), also known as Nepalese cardamom, and green or true cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum), from which essential oil is extracted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"pq6dq46d tbxw36s4 knj5qynh kvgmc6g5 ditlmg2l oygrvhab nvdbi5me sf5mxxl7 gl3lb2sf hhz5lgdu\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/te8\/2\/16\/1f4da.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\udcda\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/><\/span> It is one of the species that forms part of humanity\u2019s ancient history. It is known that cardamom was already in use in ancient Sumer, that in ancient Egypt it was used in perfume, and that for centuries it has been used as an aphrodisiac alongside other ingredients. Lawless (1994) points out that an aphrodisiac formula known as \u201cThe Fire of Venus\u201d, which contains cardamom, already appears in the Vedas. Its seeds are a popular ingredient in Asia, used to flavour dishes as well as in certain ceremonial incenses in India, such as the blend known as \u201cAbir\u201d.<br \/>\n<span class=\"pq6dq46d tbxw36s4 knj5qynh kvgmc6g5 ditlmg2l oygrvhab nvdbi5me sf5mxxl7 gl3lb2sf hhz5lgdu\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" the digestive system, which it improves when it is out of balance, soothing nerves and digestive spasms as well as heaviness, flatulence, indigestion, loss of appetite, etc. In Ayurveda, it is used to counteract the \u201cmoistening\u201d nature of milk and the stimulating effect of the caffeine in coffee.<br \/>\n<span class=\"pq6dq46d tbxw36s4 knj5qynh kvgmc6g5 ditlmg2l oygrvhab nvdbi5me sf5mxxl7
