ROSEMARY AND ST. JOHN’S WORT INFUSION

🌸 ROSEMARY AND ST. JOHN’S WORT INFUSION
🙋‍♀️ At the beginning of August, we had finished making our rosemary and St John’s wort infusion in olive oil. We are very fortunate to live in a climate that is ideal for growing medicinal plants, and by making use of them we can have a natural first-aid kit at home.
The rosemary and St John’s wort were harvested at the end of June. We left the plants to dry for a couple of days to remove any moisture, then placed them in a glass jar to which we added olive oil. Now all that remains is to wait and shake the jar to help extract the active ingredients.
🌿 ROMERO PROPERTIES:
Rosemary-infused oil is very effective for inflammation and pain in the musculoskeletal system (rheumatism) and skin conditions (dermatitis), which it helps to rejuvenate. It also stimulates hair growth, so you can apply a little or, better still, make a shampoo with it 😉
🌾 PROPERTIES OF ST. JOHN’S WORT:
The popular St John’s Wort is well known for its therapeutic and magical properties. Since ancient times, it has been regarded as a “demon-repelling” plant, as it carries light within it. In herbal medicine, it is widely used to treat psychological problems and bring “light” (anxiety, depression, etc.). Its infusion is red in colour and has traditionally been called “the blood of Christ”.
In rural areas, it is well known for its anti-infective and antiseptic properties, as it has traditionally been used to treat animals’ wounds. When applied to wounds and burns, it has an antiseptic and analgesic effect. It promotes blood and lymph circulation and also has astringent properties, which help to remove excess oil from the skin. It is a photosensitising oil, so do not apply it if you are going to be exposed to direct sunlight.
