YOGA WITH ESSENTIAL OILS

💦 YOGA WITH ESSENTIAL OILS
🌌 One of the principles of yoga is “Pratyahara”, which means “withdrawal of the senses” or not allowing oneself to be carried away by them. In other words, it means maintaining one’s focus and remaining present despite the various external influences perceived through sight, smell, hearing, etc. In Vedanta, this was achieved by withdrawing from the world to meditate in solitude. In Tantra, however, the quest for union with the Divine is realised by interacting with these senses and learning to make each sensory experience divine.
👍 In yoga, we have various tools that use the senses as a means of delving deeper into our inner selves:
– We use the Tratakam gaze to access subtle planes of consciousness.
– We use mantras and sounds as a means of healing, meditation and transcendence.
– And since ancient times, various traditions have used scents as a means of purification and cleansing, but also to access subtle states and alter physical and emotional patterns.
🕉 The key to “Pratyahara” is to prevent external impressions from affecting us “unconsciously”, but rather to use them to direct our external or ordinary mind – the one we use in our day-to-day lives (Manas) – towards the inner mind or consciousness (Chitta), which holds our deepest impressions (karma). In this way, an aromatic experience can become one which, when properly guided, can access deep parts of our being and assist us in our own personal journey.
💜 At Aroma Yoga®, we use the sense of smell – the only one directly connected to the brain – as a springboard for healing different aspects of ourselves. We use 100%-grade essential oils as tools to access parts of our psyche, change patterns, establish new habits, develop qualities, and so on.
