WHITE THORN

WHITE HAWTHORN OR ALBAR
Near my home there are a couple of “white hawthorns” (Crataegus monogyna) that I find fascinating. This beautiful tree has delicate, lovely leaves and branches covered in thorns.
According to Elena García Alonso, the “White Hawthorn” is the Master of Unconditional Love and of the union between the feminine and the masculine.
And it’s true that you can sense this as soon as you approach it. In my case, I connected with a very loving, very enveloping and powerful energy, despite it being a relatively small tree. I felt like getting closer to it and leaning against its trunk as I have done with other trees, but whilst I felt a sense of closeness and love, I also had a feeling of “caution. Thorns”. Because if you’re not careful, you can hurt yourself on the sharp, pointed needles that wind their way through its younger branches. And isn’t this feeling linked to love? Shouldn’t we love despite the difficulties? Our thorns are the various aspects of the “ego” that distance us from our essence, the tree’s trunk.
I’m sure you know plenty of people who, when you first meet them, give you a bit of a prickly feeling, but when you get to know them better, you discover a wonderful source of love and beauty.
The oldest branches of the “white hawthorn” no longer have thorns. Maturity and personal growth allow us to gradually smooth out and purify our inner shadows, leading us along a path of learning and healing.
“Watching the child dance filled the tree with emotion and joy. It nodded lovingly and sang along with the breeze:
– We dance with the breeze and sing songs. The innocent birds hop and chirp in our branches, even though we have no money. The day we become entangled with money, we will have to go to the temples, just as your weak men do, to learn how to find peace and to learn how to find love. No, we have no need of money.—
”If life could be like that tree, spreading its branches wide so that everyone could find shelter in its shade, then we might understand what love is. There are no scriptures, maps or dictionaries for love.’![]()
