HOME-MADE FLORIDA WATER

🍃Homemade FLORIDA WATER 🍋
🍊 This scented water is very popular amongst Native American shamans and healers as a cleanser and for sealing the psychic and auric fields. It was first introduced by Robert Murray in 1808 in New York. Nowadays, you can buy this water ready-made from the company founded by Murray and his partner Lanman, but you can also make your own at home.
When we make our own products, we tap into the ancestral energy of our kidneys and the seat of our instincts. It’s a magical process: making the product, waiting… and finally obtaining an alchemical concoction. In the photo, you can see the ingredients we use to make our Florida Water: lemon, orange, mandarin, rosemary, mint, clove and cinnamon.
🧎‍♀️ APPLICATION TO YOGA AND SELF-CARE
🧘‍♀️ For a long time, I have been observing how aromas, when used in accordance with the Five Paths of Connection (Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Ether), can transform your psyche and foster a state of yoga, whether your practice focuses more on asanas, pranayama or meditation…
💦 Florida Water is a wonderful ingredient to use as part of the WATER PATH, which primarily promotes cleansing and purification. Here are a few TIPS on how to use it, whether you’re a yoga practitioner or a yoga teacher:
▪️In your day-to-day life, finding calm, setting a Sankalpa (intention) and applying it to your body as a form of self-care
▪️As part of a pre-class “ritual” such as personal cleansing when we feel we have been affected by energies from outside the room (stress from looking for a parking space, a heated conversation before entering the room, emotional tension, etc.).
▪️As an offering on our altar, in a small container.
▪️️Each student should cleanse themselves upon entering the room, either through a purification ritual or during the seated meditation session (after explaining beforehand what is to be done). We can do this for them, or they can do it themselves.
▪️️Spray into the air during a break in class (Balasana, Makarasana, etc.)
▪️️By applying a few drops to our hands whilst the pupils are in Savasana and holding them 1–2 centimetres from their faces to help them relax (after letting them know what we are going to do).
▪️To round off the class (as a final touch), whilst the pupils come out of Savasana, to add a pleasant scent to the room or to the people present.
▪️For cleaning and purifying the yoga shala, either by using it to mop the floor or to spray it into the air before or after a yoga session (when there are no pupils present).
