THE MIOBALL TECHNIQUE APPLIED TO MARMAS

🧘‍♀️ Ayurveda, the traditional medical science of India and a sister discipline to Yoga, describes the human body as a series of physical channels (SROTAS) and energy points (MARMAS). The latter are used to regulate prana during an Ayurvedic massage, as well as to counter an attacker in the Indian martial art Kalaripayattu, as they are sensitive and delicate areas.
👉 Many researchers have highlighted the link between marmas (also known as acupuncture points) and trigger points. This link suggests that the descriptions of sensitive areas in ancient Ayurvedic texts were related to stiffness or abnormalities in our fascial tissue. Therefore, working on the marmas through the correct stimulation can improve our fascial tissue; hydrating it and making it more flexible is important for reducing the body’s energy expenditure and increasing PRANA. 🤩
👉 Another important observation we can make is the interesting relationship that can be found between MYER’S MYOFASCIAL TRACKS and the 14 main NADIS described in the Yoga tradition.
👉 This is why, in our Yoga and Ayurveda training course, we explore fascia and the myofascial system and how they are linked to both yoga and Ayurveda. Ultimately, we discover that the body is ONE and that every culture has arrived at similar conclusions using different language.
📚 In the image, you can see the stimulation of the ANI marma (translated as “the tip of a pin”), both lower (on the lower thigh) and upper (on the triceps).
🙏 This marma primarily acts on the water metabolism (Udakavahasrotas), influencing the urinary (kidneys, bladder), lymphatic and endocrine systems. It improves muscle tone and relieves tension (Mamsavahasrotas) in the lower and upper limbs respectively.
▪️Ani inferior is similar to the TCM point: E33, B10 (D.G. Thatte, Frank Ross) or E34
▪️The upper Ani point is similar to the TCM points: SJ11, SJ12, IG13
